"This my friend was the best location of any show I ever saw be it Dead or otherwise."

truer words have never been spoken. was that place unreal or what??? - out in the middle of nature's utopia :)

very nicely written post - thanks for bringing back some natural visuals - seems like so so long ago

...lately, I've been sitting in the garden, wet from the pool, eating tomatoes from the vine and jamming GD.

What a fine experience that is.....the heat, the water, the earth, the bud and the tunes.....happy times...happy times indeed!

It was really a one day utopia I couldn't believe we stumbled upon it and it was my first JGB show to boot.

i was trying to remember if it was a one or two day event (how pathetic is that) - but now that you have reminded me, i recall driving back down to the Greek for his next show which Bonnie Raitt opened for - that was pretty cool too :) - though obviously a whole different feel from a venue perspective - but neat nonetheless for this eastcoast boy

Right exactly a one day event with the Greek shows after then after camping a week or so up at Point reys we have the sweet begining of the summer of 89 GD at Shorline. Followed by the Nevada rainbow gathering after which we hightailed it to JFK but that's another story.

Have not read this thread, but the only time I saw the Dead was at Cincinnati Gardens, a cesspool. I did see Phil and Friends at the Palace in Louisville, which was way cool.
My favorite plae to see a show is the Southgate House in Newport, Ky. Saw Hot Tuna there amongst others.

Saw the Dead down at Freedom hall your way and I must say the place was quite cool with a bizarre layout. An old place in a Winterland sort of style. Ever go there?
